From the chapter: Teaching Aptitude — Nature, Objectives & Learner Characteristics

A teacher presents an unfamiliar salt to a postgraduate class and asks each group to design its own scheme of tests to identify it. No procedure is supplied. This classroom is operating chiefly at which level of teaching?

Show the answer and why

Answer: C.

The defining mark of the reflective level is a genuine problem situation with no ready-made procedure, in which learners frame and test their own hypotheses — Bloom’s analyse, evaluate and create. Memory level would be reciting the test for sulphate; understanding level would be applying a supplied scheme to a new salt. "Conditioning level" is a distractor — conditioning is a psychological process, not one of the three levels, which are memory, understanding and reflective.
