From the chapter: Verbal Reasoning — Analogy, Series, Coding & Relations

Select the number that will replace the question mark: 7 : 50 :: 11 : ?

Show the answer and why

Answer: C.

Test squares first: 7² = 49, and 50 is one more, so the rule is n² + 1. Apply it to 11: 11² = 121, and 121 + 1 = 122. Check the distractors to see the traps — 121 alone would be the plain square (not offered), 132 is 11 × 12 which is the n(n + 1) rule that does not fit 7 (7 × 8 = 56, not 50), and 120 is 121 − 1, the wrong sign.
