What is the commutator [x̂, p̂ₓ]?

[x̂, p̂ₓ]f = x(−iħ f′) − (−iħ)(f + x f′) = iħ f, so the commutator is iħ. Its non-zero value is the origin of Δx·Δpₓ ≥ ħ/2; −iħ is [p̂ₓ, x̂], the same pair in the other order.
