From the chapter: Sentence Structure & Transformation — Voice, Narration, Jumbles & Cloze

Choose the correct passive form of: "The gardener has watered the plants."

Show the answer and why

Answer: A.

The active verb is present perfect (has watered), so the passive must be has/have been + V3. The new subject is the plants, which is plural, so the auxiliary is have, not has — that kills the second option. The third option shifts the tense to simple past and the fourth to present continuous, so both change the meaning. Correct: "The plants have been watered by the gardener."
